INVITATION:

This year, too, the Network for Mindful Business (Achtsame Wirtschaft e.V.) is organizing a global walking meditation in cooperation with the international Plum Village community of Thich Nhat Hanh.

In 2024, 25 countries took part, and walks were held in over 100 locations from Ecuador to Cambodia (see video, participating places 2024 (PDF)

This year’s theme – The Power of Small Acts – reminds us that even in darkening times, we are not powerless.

Every action we take has an impact. A gesture. A look. A mindful step. What may seem small can lead to great change – today, a year from now, or for future generations. Nothing is ever lost. We can begin here and now.

We sense how the quality of our small steps can positively influence the world.

Knowing that groups around the world will walk together on November 29th – mindfully and with compassion – strengthens our sense of international connection.

An overview of participating locations can be found on this page and is being continuously updated.

If your location is not listed and you are considering organizing a local walking meditation, you are warmly invited to do so. You can reach out to the organizing team at:gehmeditation (at) achtsame-wirtschaft.de

May we all walk this path together.
May all beings be happy.

Christiane Hütte (Coordinator of the Walking Meditation)
Dr. Kai Romhardt (Chairman, NAW e.V and Senior Dharma Teacher of the Plum Village Dhyana School.)

****************************************************************

Contemplations can support us in preparing for the walk. Here is a small selection:

May I become aware of what I am sending out into the world.

May I patiently plant and nurture wholesome seeds, and not hope

for quick success.

May I reflect on the power of my actions – my thoughts, words,

and deeds.

May I deeply understand that no wholesome act is ever lost or

meaningless.

May I not rush past the small joys of the day.

May I do my best and then let go of my expectations.

May I free myself from the pressure of having to save the world

alone.

May I anchor small acts of loving-kindness in my life and turn them

into habits.

May I learn to touch happiness in simple things and in everyday

encounters.

May I smile kindly at my imperfections again and again throughout

the day.

In the shared silence and natural connection of a group walking simply in mindfulness lies the answer to many crises of our times — inwardly and outwardly. Walking together is a gift to ourselves.

The international walking meditations are organised by sanghas and Wake Up groups in the tradition of Plum Village, the Order of Interbeing, and regional groups of the Network for Mindful Business

You are very welcome to join and to become part of this global sangha practice.

If you are interested or want to learn more about the walk in 2025, please send an eMail to Kai Romhardt.

He is a Senior Dharmacharya in the Plum Village Dhyana tradition and Chair of Network for Mindful Business and coordinates the walk since 2008.
